A world of experimentation and sound sculpture, drawing inspiration from other artistic forms, created by the embracing collaboration of two catalytic talents. No hidden meanings, just a pursuit of the challenging and innovative in the ever- changing cross-cultural currents of music’s textural paths. When Mr. Curt, the musical artiste, first met J. R. Ringdahl, the contemporary, visual artist/non- musician, while working for the Hyde Park Arts Initiative during the annual Open Studios, a unique bond of friendship was formed. Eventual discussions prompted the idea of an ambient hybridization to create some fresh improvisational work, using electronic & self-built instruments, traditional percussion, found sounds, and noise manipulations. For almost three years, they worked on & off, assiduously and assertively sharing and mixing their visions into an exciting musical stew, with the intended goal of using the end result as background musique for J.R.’s gallery exhibits. As genres, barriers, and distinctions become increasingly blurred, Lowbudget Records is here to present these moments in an uncategorized music travelogue of “painting with sound”.
