A classic of German cinema, F.W. Murnau’s “Faust: A German Folktale” was the most expensive film ever by UFA Studios in Berlin, surpassed in cost only by their subsequent production, Fritz Lang’s “Metropolis”. With an all-star international cast, it swept the world by storm in 1926.
The local elder, Faust, sells his soul to the Devil in exchange for the ability to help his plague-ridden town, but things don’t go as planned. And the Devil has a few tricks up his sleeve to make sure that Faust doesn’t get the upper hand in their cursed partnership.
