THE WITCH (originally released 1965)

Aurora's first sculpt not based on a classic horror film. I've heard it referred to as "The Salem Witch" but I've never seen an original box with that title.

A silly model, but lots of fun to paint.

I absolutely despised this model as a kid, but I certainly enjoyed building it as an adult.
I probably didn't like it when I was young because there were too many parts, and the original witch head looked cartoony (see below).

Doll and Hobby pressed the kit with some clear parts, including the lantern. I gave into the urge to drill a hole in the bottom of it and insert an orange LED.

The wires are almost completely hidden; the thicker wires are a bit too elastic, so they keep bouncing back into their original shape.
I also put two wooden shelves in the cages and added a leftover lizard and rat from some other model. You can barely see them from the front of the model.

I LOVE these lights (from Evan Designs)! They're randomly blinking lights in red, yellow, and green.

I glued them into place using little globs of plumber's 5-minute epoxy putty.

I even like the little table!

Here's my buildup from the early 2000s when Polar Lights re-popped the kit.
The head still bothers me...

This painting apparently still exists, somewhere. The glow version was a copy of the original painting. Bama's wife posed for the picture!
