GODZILLA (originally released 1964)

I hadn't yet seen the movie when this model came out. My mom bought it for me on our way to the Dentist when I was 7 years old. For some reason, the box art scared me quite a bit, which didn't help with the dentist appointment.

This is my styrene build-up from 2023.
It was a glow-in-the-dark reissue (though I didn't use any of the glow pieces):

I know the color scheme of the big guy doesn't match any of the films (neither does the box art), but I really like it.

I worked long and hard on the seams, but you can still tell they're there.

I love the radioactive fins! It's a mix of baby blue and white, which really contrasts with the warm colors of the skin.

It was fun making the buildings look like the end of the world.
Makes me wonder about myself....

Here's a shot of the base without Godzilla. It's a shame that you can't see the buildings easily when the figure is placed on it.

And this shot lets me show off his toenails!

My old 2000 build-up:

This is the huge resin "box-art" version of the kit from Pestilence Labs!
You can click on it for more pictures.

Look at the tail! I wonder if the model prototype had a longer tail, which was "stubbed" (see left) when it came time to manufacture the molds?

This painting no longer exists due to the 1969 paint-overs.
